Llessur Atner strode purposefully through the halls of the Royal Palace. She was heading towards her son's office in hopes to speak with him. She hadn't seen Lenka in a day and wondered if something had happened. This must mean he had made his choice. It was time to break the silence and let him know how proud she was of him. As she turned through the doorway, she stopped suddenly.
Kirret looked up and was shocked to see the Queen Mother standing before her. "Lady Atner," she said. "What brings you here?"
"Where is Thayer?" she asked. She was very upset to find Kirret here.
"He decided to take a few days off," she replied. "Did he not tell you?"
"No. Why are you here?"
"Thayer asked me to take care of a few things for him while he was gone." Kirret smiled softly.
Llessur frowned. "You should be at his side as his Queen," she muttered.
"What was that, my Lady?" She knew exactly what Llessur said. It was very amusing that even after she and Reth had been married for a year, Llessur still wanted her and Thayer together.
"What about Lady Leannan?" she asked suddenly.
Reth appeared in the doorway. "She went with Thayer," he said. "And good day to you, m'lady." He bowed deeply to her, a smile on his face.
Llessur turned to look at him. "She did?" A smile began to creep across her face.
"Yes, m'lady. Thayer wished Lenka to accompany him."
The smile grew wider. "Good." With that she turned and stalked from the room.
After she left, Reth stood with a confused look on his face. "What was that all about?"
Kirret grinned at her husband. "I believe the Queen Mother is happy because she believes Thayer and Lenka are... well, you know." She winked at him.
He laughed. "A happy Llessur is good thing."
As Llessur headed back to her rooms, she decided to check on Etidorhpa. She had recently badly sprained her ankle and had yet to return to the ladies. "Hello Etidorhpa," she said as she entered the room.
"M'lady!" Eti tried to stand, but forgot her leg was still in a sling. She only succeeded in entangling herself within the cords.
Llessur frowned. "Well, I gather you will not be rejoining me anytime soon from the looks of this."
A nurse quickly moved over to help Eti untangle herself. "Um, my ankle is healing slowly, m'lady. I am very sorry."
"Well, perhaps you will be better before Thayer returns."
"Thayer is not here?" she asked too quickly.
Llessur raised an eyebrow. "No, he and Lady Leannan have taken a few days away from the castle." She grinned slyly.
Eti frowned. "Oh." This was not good news. Once they returned, she would have to work extra hard to disrupt their relationship. "I thank you for checking on me, m'lady." She pasted a smile on her face.
Llessur wondered what was going through the young woman's mind. "You just relax and get well soon."
"Yes, m'lady."
"Has anyone checked that contraption to see if I have received a reply to my missive?" Llessur asked as she entered her room.
Rathsi stood quickly. "Yes m'lady. It is on your desk."
The Queen Mother nodded and moved to sit at her writing desk. In the center was a piece of paper with the email message Captain Boyd had sent her. Placing her reading glasses upon her nose, she picked it up to read.
"Excellent," she said with a smile. "Things are going as I have foreseen." She set the paper down and took off her glasses. Leaning back, she mused at just how well her plan was progressing. "You truly do live to serve, Captain. My congratulations."
