Noreh returned to take control of the ship. She explained that Mike had shooed her out of the medbay. "He was worried someone might crash the ship," she said with a smile.
I chuckled as I gave up the controls. "Ah, he has no faith in my abilities." I moved to the beaded curtain and turned back to look at her. "Call me if you need anything."
The young Grace nodded as I headed out into the ship.
Ok, this is it. I'm tired of being seen as the fool.
Fool? You haven't stopped that.
I growled at my subconscious. I meant about Brad. I was the stupid idiot who believed in him in the first place.
Oh yeah, that. For once, she didn't argue.
I walked to the door of the room Brad had locked himself in. He had left the bridge shortly after Becki and the baby mumbling something about having to think. I telekinetically unlatched it, opened it and went in. "You and I have to talk."
He looked up at me with a blank expression from his position laying on the bunk.
Great, I thought. "I trusted you. Do you even remember that? I trusted you so fucking much that I let you use Fel's TIE to go up to the Admonitor."
He lay there, looking into nothingness.
"Nobody else trusted you. I got thrown into the brig for it! Yet, you don't seem to give a damn. Not about me, not about the others. You're so self-centered. All that matters is you.
"You have no idea the shit I went through..." He wasn't listening to a word I was saying. "Fine. Just... Fuck you. When Sci gets back from Coruscant, I'm asking for a new assignment. I can't work with someone who can't work with the group." I stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind me.
Why can't he see how much I actually care? Damn, I hate people like that. I went to the docking bay and pulled out a target remote. Turning it on, I tossed it in the air and closed my eyes.
Until we landed in Mendellia, I expended all of my anger and frustration practicing with the remote. It would be best if I didn't land with all of that still lingering inside. I'd probably bite someone's head off I didn't mean to. Plus, it wasn't something I wanted Crispy to see. He'd done a great job of protecting us before. It was a shame we couldn't have done the same for him.
Of course, my subconscious didn't leave me alone.
You could have been nicer.
I sighed. "Had I been nicer, I wouldn't have gotten my point across." I backflipped over a stack of crates as I avoided a shot from the remote.
One of the crates exploded. The remote burst through the remains as it tried to keep up with me.
Good thing that was empty, she commented offhandedly. So, you want another assignment, huh? Guarding the Queen Mother perhaps? You two are such good friends.
She was mocking me, I know. Well, if she wanted me even more mad, it was working. "Screw you. Maybe my new assignment should just be my leaving the group. I know Thayer would be disappointed without Rich cooking, but maybe I just don't belong here anymore." I frowned and blocked several shots from the remote.
Wait a second... It worked, she was confused. You want to leave Terra Group?
"What do I have to offer them?" I dodged through more crates with speed and dexterity. "Yeah, I can use the Force. Big whoop. Josh is stronger than me. I've felt it. I'm useless."
I jumped just as the remote came down on top of me, firing a stream of shots. Skidding to a stop, I brought up my lightsaber to reflect the shots back towards the remote. Its shield sparked as it nearly overloaded from the intensity.
The only reason Josh is stronger is because he's tapping into the Dark side. And besides, you really think he can be everywhere they need a Jedi at once?
"Like he's the only Jedi. I've felt it... the two new recruits, the brother and sister, there is something really strange about them. I get a really creepy feeling when they are around."
You've seen them, what, twice? And that's enough to think they're strange?
"Oh great. Even my subconscious doesn't have confidence in my abilities." That was enough to distract me so the remote could appear in front of me. I reached out my hand and closed it into a fist. The remote imploded into a pile of metal and fell to the floor.
Why do you think you're useless?
"Because Sci has already brought in replacements who have a finer grasp at something... I'm not sure what. They aren't Terrans. That I'm pretty sure of. Where they came from is beyond my abilities." I shook my head in exasperation. "See, I can't even figure out what they are."
Spaz rolled over and quickly removed the destroyed remote. Another remote launched and sped towards me. I threw up a Force wall and watched it bounce off. "I'm tired."
Then go get some sleep.
"Yeah, that might be a good idea." I turned off my lightsaber and headed towards one of the bunks.
