Operation Arrakis: Force Revelation II

by Brad Corletti

"Kill the Jedi."

Three simple words, echoing around his mind.

Kill.

He'd certainly done plenty of that in the past.

The.

Carries no information.

Jedi.

Arrogant sons-of-bitches. Sloppy, they don't understand their powers and think the Force lets them get away with not thinking.

Okay, let's try a new one.

"Why?" he asked.

"To answer this question I must explain who you are. Are you ready?"

"I've been ready since the Admonitor."

"I belong to a sect of Force warriors that date from the earliest days of the Republic. We were like the Jedi, who at the time had yet to establish their dominance, in that we studied the Force. However, unlike them we studied it as one would study artificial intelligence or hyperphysics. As a tool like any other. The Jedi studied it as a religion.

"The Jedi were much more numerous than us. We found it very difficult to study both sides of the Force equally. Rigorous screening was required. Very few people had the strength of will to avoid falling entirely to the Dark or Light sides of the Force.

"We were forced to at least acknowledge the existence of good and evil Force, although we did not like it...

"The Jedi did not like our ways, but they tolerated them, as we were few and not considered a threat. They could not make any overt attacks on us for political reasons.

"Then the Sith waged war with the Jedi, and suddenly we were potential Sith.

"The Jedi attacked us en masse, with support from the authorities. Many of our best warriors died allowing the rest of us to escape.

"They hunted us down.

"They killed us all.

"The Jedi are fools. We were not Sith. We were weapons, honed to fight evil. As you must be. But first, you must kill the Jedi.

"Observe for yourself. The Jedi will commit great evil. You must be there to stop it."

Brad stood there, watching silently as the ghost finished its speech.

"Oh, fuck you. Don't give me orders, you blue piece of shit. I am NOT in the mood for mystical warnings of the future."

Brad turned his back to the ghost and left his cabin, headed for the refresher, and a shower.

"Follow me, and I'll kill you again!" he called over his shoulder.

Oh, yeah.

The badass was back.
