Operation Arrakis: Bordeaux, as in the wine

by Vickie Boyd

"Th... they kissed!"

Vickie stood in shock as she watched Josh and Becki lock lips. Wells passed them by. Her attention was drawn back to the man standing beside her because he moved. "You're going nowhere," she told him with a growl.

He stopped and glanced at the couple a hundred meters away. "I believe they were, how do you say, using a cover?"

"Right, and I'm the Queen of England. Who is your employer?"

Raymond slipped a hand in his pocket to retrieve the item she had given him long ago in case something happened.

"Hold on there," Vickie said raising the lightsaber handle again. "Nice and easy."

Slowly, his hand came from his pocket. A necklace dangled from his fingers. At the end was a broken charm of some sort. Vickie took it from him and looked at the locket.

Her eyes widened for a moment and she whistled low. "I'll be damned. We are on the same side." She held the broken keepsake into the dawn sky to see the image of Wedge Antilles, Tycho Celchu and a woman who could only be Cheriss standing together. She was slightly shorter than the two Rogues, with black hair and blazing blue eyes. She looked like she was a good fighter. The hilt of a blastsword was slightly visible at her side. What amazed her more was that it was most definitely a holo.

"I am Raymond Bordeaux," he told her.

"As in the wine?"

He nodded. "The woman in that photo is my employer. She asked me to keep tabs on you and your friends."

"Whoa, wait a minute. Back up here. First, how did she know we were here?"

He grinned slightly. "Your group hasn't been doing this 'covert operation' thing for long, have you?"

She sighed. "There's a really long story that I could tell you, but it's none of your business. Answer the question."

"I know that she works for the same people you do. When I told her that your group had arrived, she told me to watch you until she could get in touch with you. That's been five days now. I've neither seen nor heard from her. Although, seeing Wells means she may be nearby. He was the one who was following her."

Vickie closed her eyes and used the Force to search the docks. She saw no one who matched Cheriss's description. "She's not here and that Wells person seems to be searching for something not someone."

Raymond looked very distraught. "This is not good."

"No kidding," she mumbled. She glanced towards Becki and Josh and saw them talking softly to each other, both with their heads lowered. "Now that the kissing is finished, let's go speak with those two and see what's going on."
