Operation Arrakis: Au Revoir Paris - Part 1

by Vickie Boyd

(with help from Josh & Josh & Mike)

After Josh commed Noreh with the coordinates, he wandered into his room to begin packing. He looked over at the second bed and frowned. I bring six in and only take back four. And one of those four is injured badly. Where did I go wrong?

He pulled out their bags and began tossing things in. They each had their own dresser. After finishing packing his things, he started on Crispy's.

He grabbed the handle of the largest drawer and pulled. The drawer slid open quickly and fell onto the floor, dumping its contents. "Geez," Josh exclaimed as he looked over the items.

On top was a heavy blaster and a blaster carbine. Interspersed throughout were the parts of what he recognized being a sniper rifle. There were two metal tube-like things. He picked them up and discovered one to be an ultraviolet scope, the other Crispy's lightsaber. Also, there were various powerpacks and bullets jumbled in the mess.

"Damn Crispy, what do you think you are? An armory?" He shook his head and began to pick up the pieces. "And where the hell did you get all this?"

The only answer he received was silence. That alone was enough to bring his mood back down. He growled and started packing the weapons in one of Crispy's bags.

Becki and Vickie packed quietly. Neither said a word and each stayed on their side of the room. The silence was deafening. Finally, Vickie couldn't stand it any longer. "Becki?"

"Hm?" She continued to fold her clothes and lay them neatly in her suitcase.

"I'm sorry about earlier, and the Alba." She tossed her clothes that were hanging in the closet onto the bed.

"It's ok," the younger woman replied as she went into the bathroom to recover her toiletries.

Vickie went over to stand in the doorway. "No, Josh was right. Even though I had a Force-shield up, we could have gotten hurt. I put both your lives in danger and that's wrong."

Becki looked up at her. "Being in Terra Group means we are supposed to put our lives on the line every day. Josh was overreacting a bit, methinks."

The Jedi nodded and chewed on her lip thoughtfully. "I really hope we find Cheriss in Agen or at least a clue. The sooner this mission is over, the better for all of us."

"I'd certainly agree with you there. I'm missing too many classes."

She smiled and went back to packing.

Raymond assisted Zee with dismantling the computer and packing up the kitchen. Hyper continued to monitor Mike's condition. Thankfully, he was stable.

After Vickie finished packing, she moved into Mike's and Brad's room to begin packing their things. Luckily, Brad hadn't unpacked at all. She was surprised at how organized Mike's things were. "Nothing like the Batcave," she muttered to herself.

She opened the top drawer of the dresser. Inside, laying gently on top of neatly folded shirts was a holo. Elassar must have taken it because it was slightly lopsided. It was a picture of Mike and Shalla. They looked so happy, hanging all over each other in a friendly matter. Yet, in their eyes, you could see it was more.

Kelly had called and told her to be prepared when Mike came back from his visit. What she had seen was not the Mike she remembered. He had changed. His soul had changed.

And now, she really had done it. She'd made him no longer have trust in her. The tension of the day finally weighed her down. She sat heavily on the bed and silently cried.
