Project Boussh: The Danger Zone! by Brad Corletti Brad's B-wing roared through the night sky. He pushed the throttle as far as it would go, then fed power from his weapon banks into propultion to get it to go that little bit faster. He yelled as he began reducing the acceleration compensation. Unfortunately, it was over all too quickly; he had begun to approach habitable areas, not to mention his destination. He throttled back and let his powerplant top his energy cells back up. Ahead he saw his destination... and his heart sank. Two columns of smoke rose into the air. His sensors pinged; four TIEs of indeterminate model were fast fleeing the other way. Brad pushed his B-wing's speed up once more - it was time to start doing some damage. As he got closer he began to notice details; these were a pair of TIE fighters. Eyeballs. Thank heavens for small mercies, he thought to himself. Anything else and he probably wouldn't have been able to catch up. B-wings are fast, but not TIE fast. He switched his weapon control over to concussion missiles. He got a target lock on the first one and it immediately went evasive, his wingman doing the same. When the lock was lost it resumed its original escape vector. Brad smiled and switched one of the missiles in his tubes to passive detection. He then got a target lock, watched his target evade, and fired. The two missiles screamed out of the tubes, heading for their targets. The first missile, on active sensors, detonated when the target lock was lost, to avoid potential collateral damage. The second locked onto the lead TIE when it turned to resume its original escape path. Caught off-guard the TIE pilot could not evade, and the missile blasted his craft to dust. The other TIEs looped around and headed for the B-wing. Dammit, Brad thought, as blaster shots began lashing his shields, B-wings aren't built for dogfighting...
