Project Boussh: Lame Ideas by Vickie Boyd Vickie paced back and forth in front of the fireplace. Hobbie was getting dizzy watching her. "Why don't you sit down for a while," he suggested. "Can't," she replied as she spun on the ball of her left foot. "Too nervous. Need to figure out plan." "You need to learn to speak like an adult too." She stopped and glared at him. He thought flames were about to shoot from her eyes. "Sheesh, I was just teasing." She put her face in her hands and groaned. Pushing her hair from her face, she looked at the Rogue. "I'm sorry, Hobbie. I just feel like since I'm the oldest, I should be the one coming up with the plans and telling people what they should do." "From what I've heard, your plans have been rather good." "Yeah, well, I made a mistake with one of them." "Brad is not your fault." She dropped onto the couch beside him. "I know, but I still feel like he is. If I had left him alone..." She sighed at the 'what if' scenarios that were going through her mind. He put an arm around her. "Don't worry, even Wedge has made mistakes. Just work on the next one that will work." "That's the point. I have a possible plan. I'm just not sure how it's going to go over with the others." "Well," Hobbie said as he stood. "Let's go find out." He held out a hand to her. Ten minutes later, the entire group was assembled in the living room. Hobbie stood before everyone and raised his hands to get their attention. "Ok everybody. Vickie has some ideas she wants to throw out to everyone." He turned and nodded at her. She sighed as she stood. "I'm sorry about this. These ideas aren't worth anything." "Why don't you let us decide that," said Myn. "Agreed," Corran said. "Give yourself a chance." Closing her eyes, she swallowed hard. "This is the one I think will work. Problem with it is that it requires help from some outsiders." She paused for any rebuttal from the others. Nobody spoke, so she continued. "We need someone on the inside who can get messages out. I was thinking I could do that. I can contact Corran telepathically." "How do you plan on getting inside," asked Wes. "That is where the outside help comes in. I thought that maybe since Alison is friends with Jaster Mereel..." Myn cut her off quickly, "No. You are not going to do that." "How else am I going to get inside?" "This idea isn't the best. We've got to think of something else." Vickie looked at Hobbie, tears in her eyes. "I told you my ideas were lame." She ran to the door, grabbed her coat and went outside. The weather was much colder than North Carolina. Vickie was chilled immediately. Her jacket did little to warm her against the cold wind. At least she had heavy boots on. She trudged through the snow towards the woods. She barely heard the door slam behind her as someone else came out into the cold. Glancing back, she saw Pash heading towards her. She turned back and kept heading forward. It didn't take long for the taller man to catch up to her. "Where are you going?" "For a walk," she answered without turning her head. He put his hand on her shoulder to stop her. "Would you just wait a second." She stopped. "Nobody wants to see you get hurt." He turned her to face him. Her cheeks were red from the wind and the tears froze to her cheeks. "I don't want to see anyone get hurt either." He put his arms around her and held her tight. "You have a good idea, but maybe we should try it from a different angle." He felt her nod into his chest. Sighing, he turned and led her back towards the cabin.
