Project Boussh: Final Approach by scifantasy Sci, Iella, Winter, and Kelly were moving quietly toward the bridge when the klaxons went off. "That's odd," mused Winter. "We're already in a battle, why would they have more alarms?" Iella was already moving to a terminal to check it out. She called up a main information screen, and gasped. "Sensors report an extremely large object exiting hyperspace very close to our position. Scans indicate that it's a...It's a Super Star Destroyer!" Winter blinked, and Kelly's jaw dropped. Sci smiled. "That'll be our backup. Double-check and confirm that the new ship is indeed the _Lusankya_, please." Winter and Kelly turned to stare at Sci, who shrugged. "When we determined that Thrawn had brought reinforcements, we figured we'd use one of his own tricks against him." Iella laughed. "The pulsemass generators! You set them up to jump the Lusankya in with a Thrawn Pincer! Sci, that's...I love it. Who's commanding the _Lusankya_?" Sci hefted his blaster. "Rear Admiral Tabanne. Now, however, I think the odds in space have just shifted violently. While our enemies here struggle to recover, this would be a good time to attack the bridge. When we get there, Winter, you and Kelly see to it that our people--Brad included--are all right. Iella, you and I are going to go for Thrawn." All told, it was not going to be an easy run for the bridge. As far as they could tell there were several teams of stormtroopers--well-trained stormtroopers--standing guard. However, as they approached the first team, Sci pulled Kelly aside. "Can you sense the Force here?" She nodded tentatively. "The entire ship isn't covered in ysalamiri--it's just certain sections. I might be able to let you get the drop on these teams, but in closer we might not be so lucky." Sci stared at Kelly. "I don't want you doing this unless you think you're up to it. Just before, you came perilously close to slipping into the Dark Side. If you're worried in the slightest, or you don't think you can do it, or...anything, I need to know now." She stared back, the same intensity in her eyes. "I can do this." Sci nodded. "After you, then." They managed to surprise the first two groups that way, but the third was composed of droids. "Becki came this way," whispered Winter. "That's a bad sign--looks like the droidstopper has been overridden." Sci grabbed at his comlink. "I'll create a jamming field. Try to take them out quick, all right?" Winter, Iella, and Kelly nodded. Sci tapped some commands into his comlink, and nodded. Kelly came out first, creating a Force shield around herself. The droids' shots were deflected harmlessly away, but the shield could only hold for so long. Iella and Winter, who were flanking Kelly closely, were able to take out the droids in under a minute. Sci nodded approval. "There should be only one more group." There was only one more group of guards. However, they were inside the Force-nullifying bubble. "If we take these guys on in a firefight, the entire bridge will know we're coming," muttered Sci. Kelly smiled. "What if we got them to come to us?" It took her about thirty seconds to explain her plan, and Iella and Winter were smiling by the time she was done. Sci nodded. "Let's do it." Iella snuck down the hall and placed two blaster power-packs, rigged to explode, a fair distance away from the team--but close enough so that the guards could hear. She snuck back, and Kelly took a deep breath. She would try to hide the team's existence when-- The power packs blew up. The sound of the explosion bounced down the halls, and Sci could hear footspets approaching. Kelly nodded--this would work. The guards turned the corner, ran by the team without so much as a cursory glance, and as they began to turn the second corner, Sci, Iella and Winter opened fire. None of the troopers could even get a shot off. Sci's team approached the bridge entrance where the guards had been. Sci held up a stun grenade--short range, but enough. It would provide a confusion cover for their entrance. Setting the timer for one second from release, he tapped the door control, threw in the grenade, and charged, firing away. As Sci and Iella began to approach the central command, Kelly and Winter broke left towards where the prisoners were--the former prisoners, Winter realized. They were free, one was wielding a lightsaber, and Brad and his droid were providing cover for them as they found blasters. Winter craned her head to the command chair, wondering how this could happen, and all her questions were answered. Thrawn was dead, his head a mass of blaster-charred flesh. She looked to Sci, who was already rounding up Imps, got his nod, and continued over to the liberated captives to help them. Suddenly, Kelly gasped and looked at the lightsaber-user. "It's me." Standing with the former prisoners, Vickie stared at the would-be rescuers, her lightsaber lazily deflecting blaster bolts. "It's me."
