Project Boussh: Breaking And Entering by scifantasy "All right, hang on." *Pol, I hope you managed to do your job.* Sci flipped the switch on the side of his control board, the one that he and Pol had designed to set off the little surprises aboard the increasingly-growing _Admonitor_. Two seconds after the signal was sent, the first two explosives packages went off. Pol had set up many such packages, concentrating on docking bays. These two had eliminated, respectively, the defenses and several docked fighters. Sci clicked his comm. "_Gaia_ to _Skate_. Take that bay." He got a double-click in response. Since the _Skate_ was only dropping people off, it would land in a location with easy access to key ship systems, not necessarily one chosen for defense. The next explosions came a little ways across the ship. This was the dangerous part: Since the _Gaia_ and _Red Home_ were expected to hold the docking bay for as long as necessary, they had to land. Which meant that if the location couldn't be defended well, the ships--and therefore the people on the Star Destroyer--were in trouble. So Pol had set up a great many explosions, and also rerouted several antiboarding lasers to work for the attackers. "_Home_, that bay's ours. Keep up covering fire as we land, and also take slave-rigged control of the laser turrets in there." As the two ships maneuvered towards the docking bay, Sci noticed peripherally that the team members aboard his ship were also preparing to move--tightening straps on packs, slipping away last-minute supplies, triple-checking blasters. Sci fired a few laser shots into the bay, further disrupting the already chaotic scene--the bay chosen was one for a recon unit, and the explosions had destroyed virtually all of the fighters inside. The pilots were even now scrambling for cover. Other explosions were continuing to go off as the New Republic commando teams touched down in their own designated bays, but Sci wasn't worried about that. He clicked his personal comlink. "Slicer Team two, head for one of the computer rooms on this level. My team and I will make for a nerve center." Sci had been discussing the best way to handle the slicer teams with Corran, Iella, and Winter, and finally they had decided that it was best to keep the teams separate, to cover more ground. Sci was a little worried, however. He'd originally made sure to keep Winter and Iella together, to maximize their effectiveness. That put Morwen with Kirney. When it came to assigning guards, he wanted the best guard covering the latter pair--he was more confident in Iella and Winter's ability to take care of themselves than Morwen and Kirney's. So he had put them with Alison, who with her sword would probably be the more effective guard. *Big mistake,* he thought. He didn't know exactly what was up with those two, and no one was willing to volunteer information, even the people he knew who gathered rumors as a hobby. But he didn't have time to reflect on that decision now. It was too late. As he set the _Gaia_ down, its lasers firing continuously, he activated the slave-rig system he'd had installed. "_Gaia_ to _Home_, slave-rig ready. Keep this thing safe." "So, no joyrides?" "Affirmative, _Home_. _Gaia_ out." Sci hit the ramp control, and he and his teams quickly slipped out. They were able to make it down the corridor before someone apparently caught on. Iella was taking point, when she stopped. She pointed down the corridor. "Droids," she whispered. "Carrying blaster rifles." Sci groaned. "When we get out of this, I'm going to have a very long talk with Brad." Winter smirked. "If they weren't droids, they'd probably be stormies." "Is that supposed to make me feel better?" Sci nodded to Iella. "After you." She nodded thanks and rolled out into the corridor, firing as she came up. It didn't take long--apparently, the droids were not intended for combat, which was a plus. Iella took up point again and the three headed for the computer center.
